First Step Services provides alcohol and drug abuse, mental health counseling couples and family counseling. We provide family services for friends and family members who are struggling with  alcohol abuse, drug abuse or mental health concerns of someone close. 

Counseling services include assessments,  individual, group and Intensive Outpatient alcohol and drug counseling. Assessments and counseling sessions are available 6 days per week.

 

Spanish and English language services are provided. Day and evening appointments are available in Raleigh, Durham and Garner NC. 

First Step is licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to provide DWI services. First Step offers services necessary to complete all the alcohol assessment and counseling  requirements of a drinking and driving arrest. We are online with the NC DWI Services state office to send in completion reports electronically. This will allow your license to be "cleared" from the DWI license block in 2 - 3 days rather than 4 - 6 weeks. 

 

 

 

F.A.C.E.

First Step is proud to provide a free substance abuse education program to our communities. Learn how to effectively help the alcohol or drug user you care about. 

 

The F.A.C.E. program meets at First Step on Six Forks Road in Suite 213 each Monday evening, 6:00 - 7:00 PM. F.A.C.E. is Family And Community Education. All who are interested in learning more about alcohol and drug abuse, how it affects the user, the family and community is welcome.  

 

 

Though F.A.C.E. is facilitated by professional counselors, it is neither a counseling or a support group. It is designed for families, friends, teachers, counselors, attorneys, other professionals, etc. and is not appropriate for the alcohol or drug abuser.

If you live out of state and received an NC DWI, First Step can help you with your assessment and classes or counseling without your having to return to North Carolina. You can meet the requirements by receiving services in the area in which you live. 

 

 

 

First Step provides all levels of counseling services in Durham, including the Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program.  The Durham program is open Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for assessments and appointments.

First Step Psychiatrist, Enrique Lopez, M.D., conducts psychiatric evaluations, prescription management and medication follow ups. He provides psychiatric services as well as functioning as our Medical Director. Dr. Lopez has a long history of providing psychiatric services in the Raleigh and Wake County area.
