Susann Hoppmann (maiden name Stupka) has been with First Step for about 5 years now. She obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003. Previously she attended Gannon University in Erie, PA, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work. While at Chapel Hill, Susann focused on clinical skills in Adult Health and Mental Health. She also got her certificate in substance abuse studies while at UNC.
 
Susann has been with First Step full time and part time over the years. She has worked as a counselor/therapist in a number of settings since 2001. She has worked in substance abuse and mental health settings in both public and private sectors. Susann has worked with adults, adolescents, and children doing individual, couples, family, and group therapy.

Currently, Susann works out of our Raleigh and Garner offices. She facilitates a substance abuse aftercare group, and does individual counseling in mental health and substance abuse. She also has her own private practice.
