First Step Services, LLC provides alcohol & drug abuse counseling and mental health counseling for adults, adolescents and families.

Our counseling services include individual, adult and adolescent counseling, family groups,  Intensive Outpatient Alcohol and Drug Treatment and DWI Services. Assessments and counseling sessions are available 6 days per week.

Adolescent Services & Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program Services  are provided individually and in groups. The family is involved in all aspects of our adolescent treatment program. Our upcoming Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program will be strongly family involved.

F.A.C.E.
Family And Community Education

First Step provides a free substance abuse education program to families and other interested parties. Learn how to effectively help the alcohol or drug user you care about. 

The F.A.C.E. program meets at First Step   on Six Forks Road in Suite 214 each Monday evening, 6:00 - 7:30 PM. F.A.C.E. Family And Community Education. All who are interested in learning more about alcohol & drug abuse and what the family and friends can do to assist. The family and others from the community are welcome.  

First Step is licensed by the State of North Carolina  to provide DWI and DWLR assessments, ADETS and DWI related substance abuse treatment services.

First Step is an approved provider for the NC Board of Nursing. We are approved by the Duke University Employment Assistance Program, which covers employees of the university, the hospitals and all their branches,  to provide all levels of outpatient substance abuse counseling and treatment for employees and their families.

Major insurance is accepted by First Step. See the "Payment Options" page for a full list. You will likely be able to use your health insurance to assist in paying for groups or counseling resulting from an NC DWI charge.  If we are not in network with your insurance, inform your carrier that all our locations are CARF accredited programs.

First Step Psychiatrist, Enrique Lopez, M.D., conducts psychiatric evaluations, prescription management and medication follow ups. He provides psychiatric services as well as functioning as our Medical Director. Dr. Lopez has a long history of providing psychiatric services in the Raleigh and Wake County area.

We are in network with most major insurance companies for our all our Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment Programs. We do in-house billing for program participants including DWI, school, job and all other referrals. See our "Payment Options" page for details on other payment methods. At First Step, you will probably only need to pay your co-pays and deductibles, even for legal or other referrals.

If you come to First Step for a DWI assessment, you can probably use your health insurance to pay for any required DWI counseling, saving you significant money compared to agencies that don't accept insurance. We are most likely the only company in our geographic area authorized for DWI Services that accepts insurance.
